Whether for the purpose of attack or plain transportation, the ability to actuate something altogether over long distance has been live to the growth and growing of civilization. During the Middle Ages, before the cannons were invented, the most popular and popular mood to shoot a projectile was the trebuchet. However, over the course of the years trebuchets have lost their popularity. We decided to total it back! The overall goal for this project is to build a trebuchet in order to rescue our very admit Gryphy, the school mascot. Strengths - build the trebuchet call for some minute calculations and drawings. We formulated a rough sketch of what we asked to accomplish. It was emaciated with keeping in mind all the supports, pivot points, angles, an d joints required for a permanent trebuchet. We cut all our pieces prior to build so we could manikin our trebuchet. This allowed us to make certain that all of our proposed cuts, angles, and joints would fit together. By doing this, we were able to alter the dimensions of certain move of the trebuchet that were cause problems.

For example, at first we had decided to have a much wider base in order to interdict the trebuchet from tipping over onto its side due to the forces exerted by the throwing arm. However, we ulterior realized that the axle forthcoming to us was too fragile. We knew it wasnt chummy eno ugh to care the weight especially if it was! spread over that long distance. We brief our base by almost a half so that the axle was much shorter. This way the exerted pressure wasnt entirely on the axle but was also on the just supports. Also, the tension wouldnt be as much. As I look at our trebuchet I can state that this is one of its strengths as this prevents any damages from occurring.
